This post is all about how to feel like the best version of yourself.
I’m sure we all want to know the secret of how to be happy and how to be the best version of ourselves. I don’t the secret but I do have some tips that would help you get closer to being the best version of yourself.
With every activity listed below, I want you to take your time with it and be intentional. Slow down. There is no reason to rush. The moment you slow down and really enjoy the present, the more satisfied you’ll feel. When you slow down, it makes it easier for you to get in touch with yourself and evaluate how you’re actually feeling.
This post is about how to feel like the best version of yourself.

How To Feel Like The Best Version Of Yourself
1. Practice Good Hygiene
Practicing good hygiene is very important because the way you take care of your body is a very good representation of your respect for yourself.
When you see someone that looks clean and put together all the time, you get the impression that they are a respectable person and respect themselves enough to know how to consistently keep clean. It may be hard to think that not everyone does this you’d be surprised how many people are so lazy when it comes to taking a shower. I know because I used to be one of them.
Also, whenever you do see someone that looks oily and stick on their skin and clothes (I’m sure you know exactly what I mean), you won’t be able to take them seriously. If they can’t take 20 minutes out of their day to clean themselves up a little bit, why should you give them 20 minutes of your precious time?
Am I too harsh? Am I wrong?
People that keep clean with their bodies won’t go very far. If you’re one of the lazy people that don’t think it’s important to consistently practice daily body hygiene, hopefully, I’ve convinced you.
Here are some ways you can practice good hygiene.
Things To Do Every Morning + Night
Brush Your Teeth
This is non-negotiable. You absolutely have to brush your teeth every morning and every night. You definitely need to brush your teeth every night because you had just put 3-4 different meals in your mouth over about 12 hours. The mixes of all those foods together, no matter what they are, can get stuck on your teeth and might cause your teeth to stain yellow and develop cavities.
You definitely need to brush your teeth in the morning because your mouth was open and closed for 7+ hours without any water or food. I don’t know how it works but I am convinced that when you put food or water in your mouth, it washes or moves down the bad odors of your mouth so you can’t tell your breath is bad throughout the day (after you brushed your teeth in the morning and night before).
So even though you were sleeping for hours and didn’t put any more food in your mouth to make it dirty, there are still bacteria in there (and good bacteria) that make your breath filthy. Brush your teeth. Also, brush your tongue. Your tongue is the main source of your bad breath. If you’re comfortable with it, brush your tongue with toothpaste too. I do it and it helps a lot.
Wash Your Face
Washing your face every morning and night is important because your face produces these natural oils over time. If you let all the oils build up on your face and clog your pores, you’ll start getting acne.
I have also noticed that whenever my face has not been washed in a timely manner and I am oily all over, it makes me feel oily and dirty on the inside too. I can’t focus on anything I am doing because all I am thinking about and feeling is all the oil I have on my body.
The solution is obviously to go wash your face but like I said before. There was a time where I used to be so lazy to clean myself up. Now that I wash my face every morning and every night, I feel refreshed to take on the world.
Moisturize
After you’ve washed your face, you may want to moisturize. Since you are stripping your face of its natural oils, some face washes may leave your face dry and cause it to peel.
I used to be very self-conscious about my face when I wasn’t using moisturizer because I was always afraid of walking around with skin flakes hanging off my cheeks. Moisturizing also keeps your face soft which is always a satisfying feeling.
You should also moisturize the rest of your body too such as your legs and arms. The ashy look is not ideal and can also contribute to the look of not taking care of yourself.
Brush/ Comb Your Hair
If you want to do a little easy touch of looking presentable, just brush or comb your hair every morning and every night. Not only will you look clean but you’re also massaging your scalp and promoting hair growth.
I’ve also noticed that when I brush my hair consistently, my hair appears shinier and silkier.
But I have Asian hair so that might just be how my hair works. If you can brush or comb your hair often, I’d say try it. It might make a big difference in your overall appearance.
Yes, people with short hair should also brush or comb their hair.
Things To Do Every Morning
Eat Breakfast
I am actually one of the people that don’t consistently eat breakfast every day. I know. It’s bad for me. I do try to eat breakfast consistently but sometimes I get lazy to put something together for myself or I just don’t feel like eating in general.
If you can, I say try to eat breakfast and choose nutritious options like protein and fruit. Cereal is a classic cereal but I would recommend you keep that to a once-a-week breakfast or less. Not every day.
If you can pair cereal with fruit or other breakfast foods, then by all means go for it. Just don’t do cereal by itself. It’s simply not enough in my opinion.
Stretch
Stretching every morning can help get your body warmed up and ready to move about your day. Who said you only had to stretch before working out? Waking up and doing everyday things, in general, require stretching too.
I highly doubt I’m the only one that feels sore and stiff in the morning when I wake up. You never know though, maybe you automatically stretch when you wake up without realizing it.
Waking up stiff is not a great way to be the best version of yourself.
Things To Do Every Night
Shower
There is some controversy over whether you should shower in the morning, shower at night, or both. I personally think you only need to shower at night. You’re out and about all day collecting all that filth on your body so you should shower at night no matter what.
I don’t like showering in the morning just because I feel like it’s unnecessary. I already showered last night so why do I need to do it again.
My bed is clean because I clean myself before I get in it. Also, I’m not sure if this is a myth or fact but I read somewhere that every time you strip your body of its natural oils, it’s going to want to replace those oils quicker.
If you space out your showers, then your body can get used to the oils and reproduce the oils at a slower rate. Did that make sense? Whenever I wash my hair every single day, my hair tends to get oily sooner. Now that I wash my hair every two days, my hair doesn’t get oily as fast.
I can’t go longer than two days without washing my hair though because the build-up ruins the look of my hair over time and doesn’t give it the natural shine effect anymore. Again, that’s just how my hair works.
Keep in mind that showering can also mean just washing your body and not your hair. You most definitely need to wash your body every night. Why do you want to bring that filth into the bed? You’ll be sleeping in that filth until you wash your sheets. If you shower every night, there is little to no filth to worry about.
Floss Your Teeth
This is going to sound really gross of me but I didn’t start consistently flossing until I met my current boyfriend. I used to think flossing was tedious and that brushing my teeth was enough. However, not that I floss consistently,
I realized that there is a lot of gunk that stays between your teeth, especially in the back molars. I have also noticed that flossing partially contributes to bad breath. The food that sits between your teeth will start to get old and rot without you knowing.
2. Wind Down At The End Of The Day
Another way to become the best version of yourself is to wind down at the end of the day. When you wind down at the end of the, it just means to relax with a simple activity. That could be reading, meditating, puzzles, a tv show, the list is endless.
I would recommend that you wind down about 30-60 minutes before bedtime just so it’s easy for you to fall asleep afterward. The purpose of winding down is to relax your mind and body and sleeping is the ultimate state of relaxing. So you might as well prep your sleep with your wind-down time.
Winding down contributes to you becoming the best version of yourself because you’re able to shut off the rest of the world and be calm with yourself. With the relaxing time, you’re able to get in touch with yourself and reflect on how you’re feeling in the moment without the distractions of the world.
So, turn your phone off! You’ll be happier over time.

3. Dress Well
When I say dress well, I mean to wear clothes that make you feel like you can take on any problem without fear. You need to feel your best. To feel your best you need to look your best. Wear whatever your heart desires. If you feel good in a dress, then wear a dress. If you feel good in sweatpants, then wear sweatpants. To be the best version of yourself, you need to wear what you want to wear.
4. Don’t Be Too Materialistic
It’s important that you don’t become too materialistic because over time you’ll learn how to appreciate the things you do have. Don’t get attached to physical objects. You might become a hoarder and all those items you brought into your life would just collect dust.
If you really think about it though, what good do these items do for you? How do these objects get you to where you want to be in your future? Do you need them?
You’ll become the best version of yourself once you are able to pinpoint exactly what you do and don’t need in your life. Live intentionally. Every decision you make should be intentional including the materials that you bring into your life.
5. Avoid Comparing Yourself To Other People
I know social media is a big part of everyday life but you can still control what you are exposing yourself to. If you’re following people that make you feel sorry for yourself or make you think that your life sucks, then you need to take them out of your life and replace them with people that inspire you to live better and pursue your future goals.
To be the best version of yourself, you need to stop looking at what other people have and start appreciating what you already have. Sure, you can have goals, hopes, and dreams. Instead of being sad about how your life currently is, do everything that you can to be where you want to be.
Do you want to travel the world and explore all the different countries of mother Earth? Then you need to find a way to get a stable source of income that can help you pay for those plane tickets and all the delicious food you’ll eat when you get there.
If you want to feel and look “ideal” like all the people on the internet, then you need to find your style that compliments your personality and brings out the best of you. Do what means YOU happy. Don’t do what makes other people happy. You aren’t them.
6. Practice Alone Time
I guess you could say alone time goes hand in hand with winding down and relaxing. But you can wind down and relax with someone else too such as a partner, friends, or other family members. But this practicing time alone that I speak up goes beyond that. Practice eating alone. Practicing taking walks alone.
Even practice taking long drives alone. You’ll be forcing yourself to have your thoughts and dig deep into how you see yourself. You won’t get any opinions other than your own. You are 100% responsible for what happens in your alone time and to me, that’s a blessing to have.
As sad as it may sound, not everyone is able to have that power. So if you can, practice some alone time, learn about yourself, and appreciate who you are and your time.
7. Think Positively
Nothing is better than being positive and thinking of everything positively. Always look on the brighter side and don’t let any negative things get the best of you. Thinking positively is important to feel like the best version of yourself because being positive gives you more hope. You’ll look forward to your future and nothing will hold you back.
Another benefit to thinking positively is that the people around you will appreciate your positivity too. So not only will you notice yourself as your best self but the people around you will too.
Ending Note
That’s it for this post ladies and gentlemen. The last thing I want to say is that when you finally get to the point of being the best version of yourself. You’ll know.

Jenny in Neverland says
Alone time is a hugely important one for me. I feel like I always feel the most myself when I’m by myself x
Lily-Anne says
That’s really good. I only officially found out I valued my alone time when I went into college. It’s kind of sad to think about sometimes but there are days where I would rather not hang out with my friends because I need a chill day at home to reset.
