This post is all about a Foley Alabama weekend itinerary.
Are you planning a trip to Foley Alabama? I actually just came back from my weekend getaway from there.
Foley isn’t really a known area in my opinion so I thought it would be a good idea for me to show you what all I did.
Despite Foley being small, the activities I did were SO much fun. It’s the perfect location for a weekend itinerary.
The trip started Saturday morning and ended Sunday afternoon.
I guess this trip is more ideal for travelers that live within a few hours of Foley. (Unless you’re willing to pay for a plane ticket for a one night stay or drive on the Friday and spend two nights.)
So, here’s a weekend itinerary for you to think about if you’re planning a trip to or around Foley, AL.
This post is all about a Foley Alabama weekend itinerary.

Let’s Begin.

July 31, 2021 – August 1, 2021 : FOLEY ALABAMA (+Atmore)
Day One
9:00 AM- Starbucks
So I actually took this trip with my boyfriend (How surprising…. Not.)
We started off our morning at 9:00 am and went to Starbucks.
I still hadn’t eaten anything so I ordered myself a ham and cheese croissant. (It’s expensive but pretty tasty.)
My boyfriend and I live in different locations so he had already eaten beforehand.
We shared a venti caramel Frappuccino with 3 pumps of brown sugar syrup because they ran out of hazelnut syrup.
At most Starbucks locations that are out of hazelnut syrup, they normally ask if we want to substitute with toffee syrup, but this time it was brown sugar syrup. We had never had the brown sugar syrup before so we decided to try it.
On top of the croissant and the drink, I decided to get a birthday cake cake pop because I hardly ever go to Starbucks without one.
I know they’re pre-made and shipped to the store in a box but it’s delicious enough for me to keep getting it.
10:00 AM – Tanger Outlets
I’ve been to these outlets before so we didn’t do much shopping. BUT I recommend coming here if you’re in the area because there are plenty of stores to choose from.
There’s American Eagle, Victoria’s Secret, T.J Maxx, and plenty of others.
The Tanger Outlets technically opened at 10:00 am, but most of the stores didn’t open until 11:00 am. So we just walked around the stores to see what all there was and planned whether we wanted to go into any of them whenever they opened.
Our main priority was P.S Tacos because it was almost lunch time and we were hungry.
But they didn’t open until 11:00 am too.
Nike was the shop with the longest line of people waiting for the store to open.
I don’t really know what’s so great about Nike. (I’m thinking they’re all in line because other people are in line and think there’s a special sale going on.)
While we walked around, we went shop kicking.
For some reason, his app wasn’t working as well as mine in certain areas.
For instance, when we went to Oshkosh, I was able to get the 120 walk-in kicks, but he couldn’t.
When we walked in to scan some items, he could scan but I couldn’t.
We don’t know whether it’s our signal or the kind of phones we use (He uses Samsung and I use Apple.)
I also want to add that it was a VERY hot day.
I don’t know how hot but the sun was out and we were super sweaty and sticky. We definitely walked into whatever shops were open for the air conditioning.
I didn’t realize how hot Foley was in July. But I should’ve known because it’s always hot down south in the summertime.
11:00 AM – P.S Taco Company
When we first got to P.S Taco Company, there was a 30 minute wait because they were low on staff.
From what we could see, they were two waiters and one cook. BUT, we still vouch for the place because the first time we went there, there was more staff, the food was amazing, and it was just an overall great experience.
They also have tacos with pork belly! We love our pork belly.
I’d say we go mainly for the pork belly.
When we order we always do one appetizer and 3 tacos of our choosing. (We always share our food and I mention this a lot in my blogs.)
The appetizer that we ordered was the P.S Taco fries. We haven’t tried anything else, but I might mention trying a new appetizer next time.
We just order the fries because it’s a good portion for us to share and has lots of fun flavors.
For the 3 tacos, one that we always order is the belly of the beast. (This taco has pork belly.) We loved it so much the first time we went that we decided to get two this time around.
For our 3rd taco, we went with a shrimp taco.
We definitely like how we are able to customize our three tacos.
You can check out the menu for more details.
So, P.S Taco Company is a big recommendation for us (unless you don’t like tacos.)
I also recommend sitting at the bar, especially if you come in for lunch. The natural light from the windows can be blinding depending on where you sit.
I like the privacy of the bar too. (There usually aren’t a lot of people at the bar around lunch time.)
12:30 PM – The Park at OWA
Brief summary
It’s a little theme park that is great for both adults and children alike. There are plenty of rides to choose from. There are booths to play. And there are many food options. For the people that just want to rest under the shade while everyone else participates in the activities, there are benches and tables for you too. If you want more details about MY experience, keep reading! If not, then skip down to the 4:30 pm – Sonic part.
Continued
If I’m being completely honest, I thought the only thing to do in Foley was go to the Tanger Outlets.
But there is a theme park called The Park at OWA. It’s about 5-10 minutes away from the Tanger Outlets.
I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I was thinking it was a place for kids with playground slides and carousels.
My predictions were far from the truth.
It was like a fair with roller coasters and rides.
When you first walk in the area after parking, you’re gonna be in a little plaza area with some restaurants, ice cream shops, and other uncommon stores.
So if you’re not really into the theme park and rides, then you can stay in the plaza area and lounge around while the other adults and/ or kids go into the park.
After walking into the entrance of the plaza, you’ll take a left to see the actual entrance into the park.
The tickets were $25 at the time and covered us for the entire park.
Our wristbands said summer sale so I don’t know what the original prices are.
The first thing we did when we walked into the actual park was go into the gift shop.
Now, why would we go to a gift shop instead of hop on the rides? For the A.C of course!
Like I said earlier, it was a very hot day.
1:00 PM – Rollin’ Thunder
I gave this ride it’s own section because it’s a pretty awesome ride.
It’s definitely the best ride in this park.
When you look at OWA from afar the first thing you’ll notice is a big blue roller coaster.
This big blue ride is called the Rollin’ Thunder. And that is definitely the first ride that my boyfriend wanted to go on.
I tend to get motion sickness after a couple of rides so we went on this one first before I started feeling sick.
Just looking at it made me really nervous. It has twists and turns and a big loop.
I definitely drank water before going on to help settle any food that might still be in my stomach.
When we were about to get on the ride, there was this mini altar dedicated to all the expensive belongings that fell off of people when they went on this ride.
There were broken glasses and phones. There was even a broken flip phone in there (hehe).
This was the ride’s way of telling us not to ride with our belongings.
There were cubbies for us to put our phones and glasses in.
Don’t get me wrong, we were really hesitant to put our stuff down out in the open for people to grab but we would rather trust that the workers would keep watch of our items for us instead of losing our items to the roller coaster. (We definitely made the right choice.)
1:30 PM – More Rides
The next ride that we went on was this glider ride. I don’t remember its actual name.
On the ride, you sit in a seat with a glider above you.
The ride is set up like a carousel so when you’re moving, you’re just flying around in a circle.
When you want to go higher, you push on the handles to point the glider up. When you want to go lower, you pull on the handles to point the glider down.
This ride goes pretty high up and goes decently fast. At least it feels that way when you’re on it.
It was the perfect ride for a hot day because of the artificial wind.
Next, we went on this hot air balloon ride.
It’s almost the same premise as the glider ride where you go around like a carousel and go up high, but instead of having control to go higher or lower, you have control over how fast or slow to spin your air balloon cubicle.
The spinning made me slightly sick.
If you have motion sickness, maybe avoid this one. If not, this is a fun ride to go on.
Even though there were plenty of other rides to go on, the next ride was our last one (Sorry to my boyfriend who wanted to go on more.)
The last ride that we went on was the Crazy Mouse and it was a brain wrecker for me.
It takes you on VERY sharp turns at fast speeds and makes you feel like you’re going to fall off the ride.
This ride was an interesting experience, but I would not go on it again.
You should at least go on it once and then decide whether you want to go on it again later.
4:30 PM – Sonic
When we left the park, we were really thirsty but didn’t want to pay for the overpriced drinks in the park.
My boyfriend was really craving a sonic slushy and what do you know. There was one 10 minutes away from us. Perfect.
He ordered a real strawberries slushy and I ordered a blue raspberry slushy with real fruit strawberries.
They were refreshing for sure.
You know what else was great about this visit. It was HAPPY HOUR. Happy hour was from 2:00 – 5:00 PM and we were just in time.
6:00 PM – Wind Creek Atmore Hotel & Casino
This next part of the itinerary is not part of Foley, but it’s only an hour away. That’s close enough.
We left Sonic around 5:00 pm and got to Wind Creek around 6:00 pm.
We decided to stay at Wind Creek instead of a hotel in Foley because we thought this hotel would be much more enjoyable than a regular hotel like Holiday Inn Express (not that there’s anything wrong with it.)
At Wind Creek, their hotel has a casino, a movie theater, a bowling alley, and a pool.
How exciting does that sound??
I will say that despite the hotel having this many activities, it’s not very big compared to other casino hotels that I have seen before (but it’s big enough.)
I wish I took more pictures of it to show you. Maybe next time.
6:30 PM – Snake Eyes + Pizza
After checking in and bringing our luggage to the hotel room, we decided to see a movie in the hotel movie theater.
Snake Eyes was the next and last movie playing at 7:00 pm so we showed up just in time. (We didn’t know what movies were showing and when.)
My favorite part about the experience was that we could order a whole pizza and eat it in the movie theater.
Isn’t that the coolest??
There weren’t tables or anything though.
You just had to hold and eat your pizza the way you eat your popcorn (with the box on your lap.)
In my opinion, this experience was fairly cheap too. Back at home, a movie for two with popcorn and drinks cost about $40.
Here, a movie for two, a whole 12” pizza, and two water bottles cost us about $33.
I don’t know if the prices will be the same when you go but that is how much we paid.
The pizza was very cheesy and decent.
The movie theater experience was like any other theater but smaller.
The movie and sound quality were also like any other theater. Everything was great.
I think what made the entire experience 10x better was that when we were done, we didn’t have to drive home.
We could walk up to our nicely cleaned hotel room, wash up, and relax.
9:00 PM – Hotel + Boyfriend in the Casino
The movie ended around 9:00 pm as we expected.
We went back up to the hotel room to relax a little bit and get situated.
Until my boyfriend decided he wanted to go gamble.
I am only 20 years old right now and the age requirement to gamble was 21.
He was 22 so he went down without me.
You may be thinking, “what a bad boyfriend for not waiting for her to be of age to go gamble.”
I honestly had no problem with it. It was his first time gambling so I was more excited for him than anything.
I wanted him to tell me how it all worked and what all he did when he came back.
So while I had the hotel room to myself, I washed up and relaxed like I said I would.
The bathroom was pretty big.
The door into it was to sliding doors like how barn doors are.
I didn’t take any pictures of it and wish I had done that too. (Tip: Take as many pictures of your new experiences as possible and don’t regret it like me.)
Then my boyfriend came back and he told me that he ended up playing it safe and only gambled $30.
He lost those $30 and he said he lost them fast.
But just talking about it with him was exciting. I’m excited about my first time gambling.
$30 isn’t really a lot but if I was gambling for the first time too, I would’ve done the same thing.
DAY TWO
Day two is mostly a relaxing wind-down day because it’s Sunday.
9:00 AM – Wake Up
We stayed up until around 11:00 PM the night before and slept in pretty late because we were exhausted from the heat, the rides, and the driving.
We spent about an hour cuddling and just enjoying our last moment in the hotel.
Then we checked out of the hotel.
10:30 AM – Late Breakfast
We didn’t exactly know what to do for breakfast so we drove around the hotel to see what was nearby.
Taco was the first option but they were closed. Hardee’s was next door but we didn’t want that.
There was also Popeyes and waffle house but for some reason we chose to go to Walmart.
Guess what we did while we were there. We went shop kicking! Or at least I did.
I think his app wasn’t working again.
We ended up buying a small market side brand of chicken salad with cranberries, garlic butter Ritz, one chicken egg roll, market side brand lemonade, and the limited edition red, white, and blue Oreo’s with popping candy.
I didn’t think it would be enough food for the both of us but it ended up being more food than we needed.
More to Do
We didn’t actually do any of the activities that I am about to list below because we got lazy and thought we hit a perfect place to end our weekend getaway.
So at this point, we were actually driving home.
But if you’re not ready for your weekend getaway to end then keep reading before there are a few more things to do!
12:00 PM – Bowling
There is a bowling alley in the hotel that opens at 12:00 PM on Sundays.
From the little glimpses we got of the place last night, there were bright lights and it looked like a fun time.
It’s a great place to take your kids.
Since you get to have fun in the casino, why not let them have fun in the bowling alley, right?
1:00 PM – Casino
If you don’t have kids and are old enough, you can gamble in the casino a little bit more.
This hotel is mainly slot machines and there are a lot of them.
So I’m sure there will be one open for you to enjoy.
But like I said, my boyfriend lost his money fast so it must be how the slot machine games work.
2:00 PM – Lunch
You definitely don’t want to forget about lunch.
There are plenty of dining options at Wind Creek such as the Fire Steakhouse, the Taste of the Grill, the Grill Express, and more.
I don’t know what the hours are for these dining options so you should definitely do some research on your own.
3:30 PM – Go Home
After a good day bowling, the casino, and late lunch, I think it’s time for you to head home wherever that is.
(Or you can not listen to me, stay longer, and keep spending money, your choice.)
Ending Note
And there’s the Foley itinerary!
With my last assignments and final exams coming up, this weekend getaway was a must.
I was able to relax and enjoy myself.
I also gained a lot of good quality time with my boyfriend which I always look forward to.
What do you think of this itinerary? Would you do the same things? What would you do differently?
Let me know in the comments below. Good day!
How OUR Foley Weekend Getaway Ended
This part of the post didn’t take place in the Foley itinerary, but since we’re on the topic of what I did on this weekend getaway, I wanted to share everything I did to finish off my Sunday.
12:00 PM – Drive home
We actually planned on going bowling or going swimming in the hotel pool, but we really didn’t feel like it.
After finishing our basic breakfast, we really just wanted to go home.
We were satisfied with the theme park and the movie theater.
On top of that, we drove around a lot this weekend (in my opinion) so we were tired.
We decided to head home.
1:00 PM – Movie at Home
We were feeling really lazy to do anything else so when we got back to my house, we just turned on a Netflix movie in bed.
We watched Legally Blonde.
I’ve seen it a couple of times but he hasn’t.
I forgot how empowering this movie was.
3:00 PM – Cuddling
When the movie ended, we just enjoyed each other’s company and talked about what we thought about the weekend getaway.
We mainly talked about what we did and didn’t like. What we would do again or what we would do differently next time.
I really like that he and I reflect on our experiences and the fact that he and I do it together is even better.
We also talked about what we wanted to do for the rest of the day.
4:30 PM – Texas Roadhouse
We ended up going to Texas Roadhouse for steak.
My boyfriend likes the place and I haven’t been there in a couple of years so we went.
It was only about a 15-minute wait which was really nice.
We even got lucky and found a parking spot right at the front door.
The dining experience came with complimentary bread and cinnamon sugar butter.
The bread was so tasty. The cinnamon sugar on top of it made it even better.
I kind of wished my meal was just bread and butter. (But that’s not why we went there.)
We ordered this sampler appetizer with these cheese jalapeno poppers, boneless wings, and loaded potato fries.
My favorite was the cheese jalapeno poppers.
I also want to note that I don’t actually know what the names of these foods are. This is just how I would describe them.
I’m sure if you went to Texas Roadhouse and read the menu, you would know which appetizer I’m talking about.
We were sharing a meal and I didn’t know what to get so instead of discussing our meal, I let him choose what we were having for dinner.
He wanted a 10 oz rib-eye steak.
For the side, he chose a sweet potato with butter.
I wanted the sweet potato with cinnamon and roasted marshmallows, but it cost extra so we decided against it.
Overall, it was a fun time. We left full and we were satisfied.
5:30 PM – Wild Honey
By the time we finished at Texas Roadhouse, it was 5:30 pm and he was thinking about dropping me off at my home and driving to his home.
But, I didn’t want the night to end so I suggested frozen yogurt at Wild Honey.
He has never been there before so he was on board to go and try it.
We shared one cup.
Wild honey also provides a little divider to put in your cup so that way you can have two flavors of frozen yogurt without them mixing together.
We took advantage of this divider for sure.
On my side, I got a pistachio birthday cake-flavored frozen yogurt with toppings.
On his side, he got chocolate chip cookie dough and salted caramel with toppings.
I’m not going to go into the details of what toppings we got because we got a lot.
There were a lot of topping options at Wild Honey which made the experience much more fun.
Our frozen yogurt cup ended up being about $9 because they charge by the weight.
6:30 PM – Boyfriend Does my Makeup (lol this isn’t YouTube)
It started raining hard while we were at Wild Honey so he decided to stay with me a little longer.
When we got back to my house, he had the greatest idea to try and do my makeup.
At this point, we were just having some fun to give Mother Nature some time for the rain to pass.
He definitely had no experience whatsoever (and neither do I) but I tried to help him as much as possible and tell him what he should and shouldn’t do to the best of my knowledge.
(I am not showing a picture of how it turned out. Let’s just say it was decent but enough for me to walk out of the house.)
7:30 PM – Ending the Weekend getaway
When the rain finally stopped or at least calmed down, he went home and our Foley weekend getaway officially ended.
This post was all about a Foley Alabama weekend itinerary.
